Support our Local Pubs

Monday 14 September 2020

The very good news is that pretty much all of the 130 or so pubs in the South Oxfordshire Branch area have now reopened since July following the coronavirus lockdown, and, as far as we are aware, none have shut their doors for good. Let’s hope they can continue to stay open in the coming months! Over 70 pubs signed up for the recent “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme and by all accounts this was extremely successful with many pubs reporting booming business through August.

Now, as we enter the autumn months our pubs will need customers to continue to support them and help them further recover. Those who have frequented our pubs recently will know that the licensees have worked extremely hard to make sure their pubs are a safe and enjoyable experience and operate within the Covid-19 regulations. Hopefully, despite the tightening restrictions on gatherings announced recently, we can all still enjoy a visit to the local pub. It is great to see that many pubs, around 20 or so that we know of already, are continuing to provide their own discounted food and drinks schemes throughout September to November. For those who are still concerned about spending time inside the pub, 50 or so are continuing to provide the takeaway food and drinks services they originally set up at the start of lockdown.

South Oxfordshire Branch has updated its Directory of the reopening details of all the pubs in our area, to provide all the details of current opening times and operations, discounted schemes and takeaway food and drinks services. Please visit this to find out the details for any pub in the area and then check the links for each pub to find out further information, such as menus and booking details.

For pubs outside our Branch area, and indeed nationally, please see the Updates section in What Pub, for the latest details of how pubs across the country are operating.
