See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Reopened on 8 December 2022 with new tenants and a new name as the "Bear of North Moreton"; the new tenants also run the Keep bar and Five Little Pigs restaurant/bar (both in Wallingford). It had been closed on 22 September 2022 as the Bear by the previous lessees.
The website, Facebook page and e-mail address have been updated from the website on 22 May 2023. Two of the real ales are from local microbreweries, the third may come from further afield. The food is sourced locally and dining is throughout the pub, as is drinking. The sofas have been removed.
South Oxfordshire Branch of CAMRA will endeavour to update the other information about this pub by the end of July 2023.
The description when under the previous tenants was: Originally a 15th-century coaching inn, this is a friendly village local with, unusually for the area, no local real ales but the wide range is chosen from throughout the rest of the country. The seating arrangement in the main (front) bar is relaxed with sofas and an open fire. The old-style beamed/bricked interior was completely refurbished during summer 2020 including polished wooden floorboards in the bar area and carpeting in the dining area. The lighting was replaced, and new artwork put up. The Bear adjoins the village cricket ground.
