Family-friendly 1930s style village community pub, extensively refurbished, but retaining much original wood panelling and three real fires. Situated on a country lane at the edge of Sonning Common bordering the countryside, the pub attracts cyclists and walkers, with 3 Brakspear Pub Trail walks available. The large garden has plenty of seating, a children's play area and a separate barbeque area. A permanent beacon was installed in the car-park for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee. The pub hosts many local club and society meetings and charity events including the annual Butcher's Big Bash all-day music festival at the end of June. It also has halting rails for horses, so it is horse friendly as well as family- and dog-friendly!
