Large, popular 16th century country inn with extensive dining areas, attractive courtyard garden and modern accommodation.
Attractive and charming 16th century inn, with a bar at one end and three distinct dining areas. Low, beamed ceilings, flagstone floors and a large inglenook fireplace are key period features. The Barn dining room on the other hand has a high vaulted ceiling. The pub is a very popular dining venue, offering an extensive and widely varying top end pub dining menu. It is well known for its steak offerings, a sumptuous Sunday lunch carvery and for breakfasts from 7.00am. Note though, that the bar sells alcohol only from 11.00am.
Although food is offered all day, there is a reduced menu from 3–6pm (sandwiches, salads, burgers & pizza).
The pub is very popular for group events, particularly for weddings, but also for funeral receptions, birthday's and other privates parties. The Barn Room can hold 30-60 guests and the smaller Library Room 15-30 guests; but events catering for up to 100 guests are frequently held.
The outside courtyard and garden area is very well-appointed, with lots of mature planting and provides a great outdoor drinking and dining space in the warmer months.
There is separate modern accommodation off the courtyard area, with 10 en-suite, fully equipped double bedrooms. One of these is fully accessible for those of limited mobility. The pub offers very reasonable dinner, bed & breakfast deals.
