On 24 June 2025, the Brakspear pub co applied for planning permission for "Conversion of existing pub into one dwelling with four bedrooms, internal and external alterations to facilitate conversion. Demolition of non-original lean-to rear extension and outbuilding" - see P25/S1976/LB and P25/S1975/FUL. As of 11 September 2025 the application is under consideration.

As of early March 2024, the pub is advertised for sale as Freehold at £750,000 + VAT by Kempton Carr Croft Estate Agents.

Temporarily closed about 2 December 2022 - Brakspear sought a new tenant from at least January 2023 until February 2024.

The website as of 6 December 2022 said "The doors of The JB Pub in Goring have now closed." - the website (https://www.jbpubgoring.co.uk) is no longer active as on 2 March 2023 and 4 April 2024.

Occupying a 17th-century building this centrally located pub has oak-beam ceilings and loads of character. Ducking through the front door the lounge bar and restaurant are to your left. On the right the cosy public bar, favoured by the locals, has a real fire in winter; the rear door leads to a small garden. Traditional pub meals are served lunchtimes and evenings (plus sandwiches at lunchtime). Three luxury en-suite rooms are available. The Wheel Orchard village car park is nearby.
