Garden Party to celebrate 15-year pub tenure

Saturday 14 June 2025

Nick Willson and Hazel Lucas took the reins of The Flowing Spring in Playhatch on the Oxfordshire-Berkshire border in 2010. Since then, the married couple have given the pub a reputation as a live music venue, for their meals and drinks that cater for customers with dietary requirements, and for their range of local well-kept real ales.

On Saturday 14 June they will be holding a party in their large garden with five live bands performing outdoors, together with food, drinks and a hat contest. Called "Hats Off To You!", the party recognises and celebrates the pub's customers for their support throughout the 15 years. Admission is free and the couple will be collecting donations for Cancer Research UK.

The party's live music starts at 3pm with local ukulele ensemble Phoenix Ukulele Band playing on the lawn. At 4pm local band Talk In Code play their 80s-inspired energetic indie-pop on the main stage, followed by Brighton-based 9-piece funk band Beatroot, complete with their 5-piece horn section.

After the Hats Off contest at 6:30pm, Lincoln-based Kings & Bears take to the stage, a trio performing original funk-rock. Rounding off the day is local band Vintage Sound Collective pumping out classic soul, funk and disco covers.

Entry is free but register for the event at https://theflowingspringpub.co.uk/whatson under the Hats Off listing.
