Pub of the Season for Autumn 2020 officially awarded

Thursday 15 April 2021

Now that, finally, pubs are opening up to actual visiting punters, we felt we should revisit Corinne and Mouse at the Red Lion , Brightwell cum Sotwell to present them with the proper framed and signed award for our Pub of the Season for Autumn.

Many congratulations to Corinne (pictured right, together with our Chairman Graham Hards) and Mouse, who took over the pub in February 2020, just weeks before the first lockdown. From Day 1 both have remained resourceful and entrepreneurial and have created one of the most hospitable but COVID-secure environment of any pub in the branch area, and a true community asset.

Oh, and they have also managed throughout this time to serve beer in excellent condition, with Loddon Hoppit (3.9% ABV) and West Berkshire's Good Old Boy (4.0% ABV) always available, plus a guest ale predominately from local breweries such as Amwell Springs Brewery Co., Loose Cannon Brewery and White Horse Brewery.

To accommodate outside drinkers and diners in warmth and comfort, Corinne and Mouse have recently invested in a marquee, which has been thoughtfully decorated as well as adorned with heating and light.
